The CEO of Techint, Paolo Rocca, spoke about Javier Milei's government, highlighting the progress made but also pointing out the need for certain measures to encourage investment and warning about Chinese imports. During his participation in the 'Alacero2024' forum in Buenos Aires, Rocca emphasized that several aspects of Milei's management are headed in the right direction to reactivate the country's economy, such as reducing the state's weight, eliminating the public deficit, and simplifying regulations.
In this sense, the businessman considered that the current agenda involves deep changes for Argentina, including reducing inflation and decreasing Country Risk. However, he pointed out the importance of completing the opening of the foreign exchange market to attract significant investments, which, in his opinion, would be essential for transforming the national economy and rethinking the role of the state in the region.
Paolo Rocca stressed that the lack of competitiveness in the region is due to various factors, such as excessive state intervention, tax burden, regulatory complexity, labor regulations, infrastructure weakness, and legal insecurity, as well as a decrease in educational quality. Additionally, he criticized Chinese imports, denouncing unfair practices that harm the national industry, even though they may be useful for controlling inflation.
In summary, Paolo Rocca highlighted the progress made so far, emphasizing the importance of continuing to advance reforms to attract investments and improve the country's competitiveness, while warning about the risks associated with certain international trade practices.
